Charles City man injured in single-vehicle accident near Mason City

A Charles City man was hospitalized after a crash early Saturday morning, according to a report from the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred just after 6 a.m. at the elevated interchange of Highway 18 and Highway 65 south of Mason City, according to the Sheriff’s Office, when a vehicle being driven by Anthony Slocum, age 38, left the road and became wedged under the overhead bridge at the top of the embankment.
A deputy with the Sheriff’s Office provided first aid until medics arrived, the report said. Slocum was transported to MercyOne-North Iowa by the Mason City Fire Department Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
Also assisting at the scene was the Iowa State Patrol.
