Marvin Hesse
Marvin Hesse, 85, of Mason City, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Good Shepherd Health Care in Mason City.

A funeral service for Marvin will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Marvin LeRoy Hesse, the son of Andrew and Ruth (Cutler) Hesse, was born on March 18, 1939, in Clarksville, Iowa. He attended schools in Clarksville and graduated from Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock High School in 1959. In 1960, Marvin was united in marriage to Shirley Harper at the Baptist Church in Marble Rock.
Marvin worked for Oliver/White Farm for many years until their closing. He then worked for Winnebago Industries until his retirement. Marvin and Shirley also owned and operated Café Mexicana in Charles City. Marvin volunteered at his apartment complex helping with landscaping and planting flowers. He was awarded resident of the year for the generosity he showed. Marvin loved to bowl and was in a bowling league in Mason City. He also liked playing cards with his friends, camping, cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes, and also had an extensive Coca-Cola memorabilia collection. Marvin enjoyed woodworking and created many cedar chests, rocking horses, and wooden trucks for his family. Marvin will be deeply missed by those who knew him and will be remembered for always willing to help others and his sense of humor.
Living family members include his four children: Melody (Ricardo) Flores of Charles City, Tracy Hesse of Des Moines, Troy Hesse of Charles City, and Timothy (Melissa) Hesse, Sr. of Charles City; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley Hesse; three brothers: Donald, Duane, and Laverne; and two sisters: Phyllis Wilmoth and Betty Kock.
